Music and Learning
Music is so important for kids and one of Whistlers World’s goals is to inspire their interest in music. Research has shown music is beneficial to our learning, thinking and problem solving abilities…and it’s fun!
Music lights up multiple areas of our brains as we process both melody and rhythm into movement. Playing a musical instrument engages practically every area of the brain at once, across both hemispheres. This trains our brain to simultaneously work more effectively AND more creatively, a very important ability for problem solving in this wold.
So take your kids to concerts, get them a musical instrument, play Whistlers World stories and games with them and this will open doors to new areas of learning that are both fun and beneficial to the development of their abilities!
The Whistlers World online game is a multiplayer virtual world that enables children from all cultures and languages to communicate with each other with a musical language.
Whistlers World – The Online Virtual World
Whistlers World was created to inspire and enable children from all over the world to communicate and learn from each other so they can become greater global citizens.
Version 1.0 of the multiplayer virtual world was developed and tested online at schools in the United States, Latin America and the Middle East. Students and teachers were exited to connect with children in other countries to play and make musical compositions together as the words they entered simultaneously translated into different natural languages of their choice and the Whistlers World language of music.
When players sign on, they choose their in-game characters, language translation preferences and instrument voices, and then enter this magical world of music. They can visit different “street corners” of the world to meet new friends and learn about different cultures and make music together, no matter their natural languages. There is a whole world of stories, games and fantastic characters and environments to explore, while learning about music, different cultures and history.
Version 2.0 of this truly unique project is in development as a 3D virtual world and we will bring it online soon!
